Assessment and Diagnosis
We provide a comprehensive approach to assessment and diagnosis for children, young people, and adults. Our aim is to help you and/or your child feel seen, heard, and understood and therefore supported to reach their/your individual potential.
When you enquire about an assessment, you will be offered a free intake appointment with a Psychologist. During this meeting we clarify your needs, ensure any questions you may have are answered, and develop with you the path forward. Required appointments will be scheduled and you will receive detailed information about your assessment process and the fee for service.
The assessment process will include meeting with you and your child as well as administration of evidence based questionnaires and standardised tests. Some assessments require one appointment, others more. Your psychologist will also liaise with your child’s school and/or other key people in your child’s world. Your psychologist will then collate all of the information obtained, analyse results, and compile a detailed psychological report.
The results of the assessment will be explained to you in a feedback meeting. You will receive a written and electronic copy of the report that includes tailored, meaningful, and practical recommendations to support your child at home and school.
Cognitive Assessment:
Assists in determining a child’s cognitive capacity by identifying their learning and thinking potential, and their unique cognitive strengths and weaknesses. Cognitive assessments are available from 3 years of age though to 99 years.
Educational Assessment:
Measures a child’s academic ability in a range of areas. We highlight academic strengths and weaknesses, areas for targeted support, and can assist in determining any underlying learning disorders.
Developmental Assessment:
Identifies a child’s strengths and challenges in a range of developmental domains including cognitive, social, emotional, language, physical development and adaptive behaviours such as self-care and self-direction.
Behaviour, Social, and Emotional Assessment (including ADHD assessments):
Examines whether a child exhibits challenging behaviour which falls outside the range of expected age-appropriate behaviour. Such concerns may include difficulties around hyperactivity, impulsivity, aggression, sustaining attention and/or disruptions to peer relations or learning, depression, or anxiety.
Autism Assessment:
Evaluates a child against Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnostic criteria including areas of communication, socialisation, restricted or repetitive behaviours, interests or activities and sensory sensitivities.
